AMP has appointed Morningstar as the external research provider for its advice business.
Morningstar will provide a range of services for AMP’s advice licensees, working with AMP’s in-house Advice Research team to enhance investment research and governance of its approved product lists, direct equities offer and managed portfolios.
David Akers, Acting Group Executive, Advice, said the appointment of Morningstar would help strengthen the investment expertise offered by AMP’s advice licensees, by supporting research quality and insight to advisers, and through an involvement in portfolio and solution design.
“After an extensive selection process, we believe our Advice Research team has partnered with an outstanding independent research provider,” Mr Akers said.
Jamie Wickham, Managing Director of Morningstar Australasia, added, “We are delighted to have been selected by AMP’s advice business to provide investment research services."
"We are confident Morningstar’s rigorous independent analysis and deep experience will be highly valued by AMP, with the largest network of advisers in the country.”
Morningstar will assume a range of services for AMP’s advice licensees including the provision of recommendations for funds within its Research Choice portfolios; reporting on the performance of the portfolios, providing managed funds research and delivering objective advice to AMP’s licensee investment management committee.
Brad Green, AMP Director for Advice Research and Policy said: “We have worked closely with Morningstar Australasia to agree a robust and comprehensive suite of services and are confident they will support the investment needs of our financial advisers and their clients.”
