COVID-19 update from our CEO

The following message from CEO Francesco De Ferrari has today been sent to  AMP clients.

The spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus has unsettled us all. And my thoughts are with those directly impacted, our health care workers and of course with you, our clients.

This is a time of significant uncertainty for many people around the world. It is a time for communities to come together and take care of one another.

Getting help

I want to reassure you that for clients facing unexpected hardship or challenges through this period, we’re here to help.

Everyone is different so we’ll work with you to determine an approach to suit your circumstances.

Like many organisations, we’re seeing a significant increase in clients getting in touch. Our teams are working hard to help but we expect some impact to service times through our contact centres at peak periods. We will be providing as much information as we can on our website to make it easier to access support.

We’re taking extra care of our people and have implemented a range of sensible health precautions to protect our employees’ wellbeing, and to make sure we continue to provide all the services our clients need. Some of the measures we’re taking with our teams include rotating shifts to reduce contact between groups of people, work-from-home arrangements and fewer face-to-face meetings.

Insurance cover

I would also like to reassure clients with AMP life insurance policies that you are protected under your policy in the case of a claim relating to the COVID-19 virus. Coverage applies 24 hours a day worldwide – regardless of travel warnings – as long as the usual terms and conditions of your policy are met.

Financial markets

The spread of the virus, and the world’s reaction, has destabilised financial markets. And this has had a direct impact on many people’s investment and retirement portfolios.

I’m confident that our team will support our clients to navigate through these challenging market conditions. It is important to avoid kneejerk reactions and seek advice. If history has taught us anything, it is that economies and markets are resilient and can recover from setbacks.
